Public art builds a sense of place amid stucco

City leaders for years have talked up revitalizing Old Town Peoria. They're turning to public art projects, like those along Grand Avenue and in downtown Mesa, to give the historic district a unique sense of place.

The installation at the intersection of 83rd Drive and Washington Street is the first of five Peoria commissioned. Others, including 84th Avenue and Jefferson Street, are scheduled to finish in early May.




Western states agree to plan on Colorado River water

It is a somewhat daunting task delivering a keynote address on mentoring before a group of distinguished women leaders and rising professionals. OK, drop the “somewhat” part. But when asked if I would speak at the Phoenix Business Journal Mentoring Monday event on Feb. 25, I welcomed the challenge.




To teach in Arizona

In a two-part feature, the Douglas Dispatch reports that the documentary “Teaching in Arizona” was recently screened for the general public at Douglas High School. The film follows three Tucson area teachers who alternately extol their love of teaching and express their frustrations of a teacher workforce crisis.
