Arizona Housing at a Glance

Arizona's housing challenges remain among the state's most pressing issues. The 2026 State of Housing in Arizona report examines population growth, housing production, homeownership, rental affordability, homelessness and housing policy to provide a comprehensive picture of Arizona's evolving housing landscape. Key findings include:

  • While Arizona’s population is becoming increasingly diverse, growth has slowed.
  • Arizona recorded the highest levels of housing production in a decade, yet housing shortages persist.
  • Rising housing-related costs are making homeownership more difficult to achieve and sustain
  • Rental housing remains a vital component of Arizona’s housing system, especially as barriers to homeownership increase.
  • Arizona homelessness continues to rise faster than other Sun Belt states
  • State and local policy continues to focus on housing, with notable implementation efforts over the past year.
