Republic: Kyl Center director is one to watch

Thursday, December 31, 2015

The Arizona Republic's editorial board picked 16 movers and shakers they think are particularly worth watching this year, including Kyl Center for Water Policy Director Sarah Porter.

There is no more important issue facing the state of Arizona than water, and one of the rapidly emerging leaders on that front is Sarah Porter, the first director of the Kyl Center for Water Policy. She is moving quickly to help make state leaders “water literate” and thus equipped to confront the large challenges looming on water policy. The Kyl Center, housed within Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University, is promoting the next generation of large-scale planning to secure tomorrow’s water supply. Earlier generations of Arizonans did the hard work to ensure we have plenty of water today. It is our obligation to do that same work for future generations. Sarah Porter and Kyl Center are leading that effort.

Others include Eileen Klein, Arizona’s Public Universities Arizona Board of Regents president, and urban planner Wellington “Duke” Reiter, a special adviser to Arizona State University President Michael Crow.
