AZPM: Voter turnout remains a concern

Friday, October 26, 2018

Arizona Public Media reported that representatives from the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission and Arizona State University's Morrison Institute have studied the state's lack of voter turnout and presented their findings in a forum held in Tucson.

Joseph Garcia, director of communication and community impact at the Institute says the state has an electorate that is not representative of the greater population.

"Young people don't vote, poor people don't vote, and people with limited educational attainment – maybe they didn't finish high school or go to college – they don't vote," he says.

The report found that Arizona ranks 43rd in voter turnout.
