Bruce Merrill, Senior Research Fellow

Dr. Bruce Merrill, a nationally known public opinion expert, is a Senior Research Fellow with an emphasis on directing a new statewide public opinion poll for Morrison Institute.

Merrill is professor emeritus in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

He  holds a Ph.D. in Political Behavior from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he trained at the Institute for Social Research and the Michigan Survey Research Center.

Merrill joined the ASU faculty in 1970 and taught in the departments of political science, communication, English, and journalism/mass communication.

Merrill was founding director of the ASU Survey Research Center, the Public Opinion Research Center and the Cronkite/Eight Poll. He has conducted polling and formulated political strategy for governors, members of Congress and other political figures in 27 states and several foreign countries.

Merill also continues to conduct surveys for private corporations, school districts and many state and federal agencies and programs.
