2010: Illegal Immigration: Perceptions and Realities, Part 2

This briefing is the second in a series that examines the many assertions surrounding illegal immigration in Arizona by offering facts from several different sources.

Illegal Immigration: Perceptions and Realities, Part 2

The sustained, high-volume influx of undocumented immigrants presents Arizona with serious public-policy challenges. Addressing them is complicated by widely repeated assertions about the nature, scope, and impact of this influx. Some of these may be well-founded, but others are simply inaccurate or rely on questionable data. These widely heard claims fuel strong feelings on both sides of the debate, reducing the chances for an impartial discussion and resolution of this crucial public policy issue. Examining their validity and reliability, however, may help to nudge the debate towards a more rational and productive path.
