President again faces a great divide in Congress, nation

The Arizona Republic reported on how President Barack Obama is talking about working with Congress through compromise to tackle tough challenges facing the nation. But congressional members and others seemed to doubt a change in the gridlock that has been prevailing in Washington, D.C., given the 2012 election results that essentially preserve the stalemate:
“Everybody thinks Congress is bad, but they like their own congressperson, so there isn’t much of a risk,” said David Berman, a senior research fellow at Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy. “I see a lot of gridlock. I don’t see a lot of incentive for anybody to compromise.”
