February 7, 2012

Erica Edwards, a research assistant at Morrison Institute for Public Policy, was named one of three recipients for ASPA's Section for Women in Public Administration (SWPA) annual awards.

Her scholarship will help defray costs associated with attending the upcoming American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) national conference in March.

"We are delighted for Erica," said Dr. David Daugherty, director of research at Morrison Institute. "In her two years working as a research assistant at MI, she has proven herself over and over again as a top-quality researcher and first-rate thinker. So, it comes as no surprise others would also recognize her talents. A well-deserved honor."

Edwards is a licensed clinical social worker with an MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and dual bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in business and Spanish.  She is attending Arizona State University to obtain her Ph.D. in public administration with a research focus on aging and disability policy and planning.

SWPA Conference Scholarship applicants must be a full-time practitioner in public service, or a student enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree program in public administration/public policy. Conference scholarships are awarded to women who show a keen interest in public administration and the impact of gender/diversity of professional choices and decisions.
